Advanced Search

Our "Advanced Search TM" technology is a unique way of narrowing your search or inserting multiple search possibilities to create personal selections from our extensive database. When logged in you may save your selection as a "Quick Link". This way your selection can be found each time you login. Here is some more detailed info on the possibilities. Please Note that it is Case Sensitive! ;

Artist Name- The first type of search is by Artist Name. You can choose in the "Search how" field names of artists that "equals" a word. For example "Madonna" will find all items by artist "Madonna". Items like "Madonna feat. Justin T" will not be found through this selection. By entering "Madonn" in this selection also no items by artist "Madonna" will be found.

Browse our releases

With so many releases in our database and numerous daily additions it is important to have a few tools to find your way to what you might be looking for. This link on the topleft side of our site, just below "Homepage" allows you to search by content type, Genre, Subgenre, Label, and Artist. Just enter the phrase in the "type here.." section and click on "enter".

Create your own Quick Link!

When registered you can create your own "quick links". This can be very useful when you are a music professional or a serious fan of good music. Check out the topic "How does Advanced Search work". When you have made a selection you can save this selection as your personal quick link. Each time you login the quick link will be there. For example ; You can make a selection to all new Armin releases and save this as your "Armin News" quick link. This way you will be able to cut through a database which is filled with hundreds of new releases per week.

Homepage

On our Homepage You can find on the left top side the links to "Browse our releases", "Advanced Search", "Help" and a lot of "Quick Links" with pre-selected items. Go to the detailed info on these Topics in this section.

Top right side of our site you will find the button where you can register and the login button.

Under the "Main" section there is an empty field where you can type in some information of what you are looking for. This "QuickSearch" functionality will initiate a google through our total database.

Below the "Main" section we present our "Top 20 Sales". By clicking on the dropdown you can change the selection to a recent chart "Last week", or to "Last month" or to "Last year".
Please note that we mean by these selections prior to this date, 7 days, 30 days or 360 days.
This list is genre specific and can also be changed when you click on any item with a different type of genre. For example click on a House item and the chart turns into a selection of most selected House items, when you click on a Trance item, the chart will turn into a Trance chart.

Below the "Quick Links" you will find "Worldwide Exclusives week X". These items represent our Exclusive distributed items for each week. Here you can find the latest cd's and vinyls which we have to offer.

On the righthand top side there is a player where you can make a playlist of items you have selected to listen to. Please note that you can only listen to tracks when registered.

Next to the "World Wide Exclusive week X" section and just below our "Player" we present our "Top 20 CD Sales".

At the bottom section of our site we have our "Just In!" list, which contains items which have just entered new into our distribution or which have been re-ordered back in.

Next to this list you will find our "All Tips of the Day" list. These are the daily new recommendations of the Astral Music team.

How does advanced search work

At the main section we offer the possibility for "Advanced Search". Here is a brief explanation to this feature;
When registered you are able to save the searched selection as a "quick link".

The "Search in" offers possibilities to search within the following sections of our database;
"Artist name" - "Genre" - "Image Files Date" (this feature is handy to make selections of new entries to our database. It specifies the date we have entered an image to the released item) - "Inventory" (this feature narrows search down to the products we have in stock or do not have in stock and even offers insight in quantities we have at hand.) - "Item sel. code" - "Label" - "Last stock Receipt" (offers possibility to find out when we have received stock on items) - "Marketing info" (this allows you to search in text which can be found in the additional release info. - "Release date" - "Sound files date" (this feature helps to make selections of items for which we have entered the soundfiles, new and or old). - "Title" (general title of Album or EP) - "Track Artist" - "Track Title" - "Track version" (example; mixed by...) - "Unit of measure" - "Vendor item no." - "Version".

The description of the "Search how" combo in Advanced Search (for character-based fields):

equals - searches for case sensitive exact character-based values. For example: Artist Name equals "Jump" finds one item, Artist Name equals "jump" finds no item.

contains text - searches for case insensitive character-based values which contains the searched text. The searched text can be ended with the * (star) character. In this case it finds texts containing words beginning by searched text. For example:
Artist Name contains text "jump" finds "Destiny Jump", "Jump & Bump", "Jump" etc.
Artist Name contains text "jump*" finds "Base Jumper", "Jumpstylemania", "Destiny Jump", "Jump & Bump", "Jump" etc.

contains free text - searches for case insensitive character-based values that match the meaning and not the exact wording of the words in the search condition. The search engine generates an inflectional forms of the searchd word and searches for the words. For example:
Artist Name contains text "go" finds "Let's go", "Time goes by", "Too Far Gone EP", etc.
